The People

Dr Carol Stott

Lead Trainer and Consultant

Dr Carol Stott is a Chartered Psychologist (CPsychol) and Chartered Scientist (CSci) and a member of the British Psychological Society. She has an MSc in epidemiology from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, a PhD in the epidemology of Specific Language Impairment from the University of Cambridge, and an MSc in Forensic Psychology with the University of Liverpool.

Carol spent 13 years in the University of Cambridge Department of Psychiatry carrying out research into genotype-phenotype associations in developmental disorder and with the University of Cambridge Autism Research Centre (ARC) investigating the population frequency of Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASDs). In addition to her training and consultancy work with BeginningwithA, she advises a number of research projects on methodology and implementation of screening and diagnostic tools.

Garry Neale

Director

Garry Neale has been involved in training and education for longer than he cares to remember. After several years of teaching, he established a successful career in training management with Cambridge-based technology companies then went on to start his own training consultancy. Garry is passionate about driving BeginningwithA forward and is taking the lead in developing innovative training solutions exploiting web and mobile technologies.

Dr Catherine Harter

Paediatric Neuropsychologist

Dr Catherine Harter is a Clinical Psychologist, Clinical Paediatric Neuropsychologist and Chartered Psychologist. She is registered with the Health Care Professions Council, T he British Psychological Society and is on the Division of Neuropsychology Specialist Register in Clinical Neuropsychology (SRCN).

Catherine is experienced in working with individuals with autism spectrum disorders, particularly diagnosis and management; and working with individuals with other neurodevelopmental difficulties including ADHD, Tourette syndrome, learning difficulties and disabilities. She has worked within NHS Neuro-oncology clinics, specialist neurodevelopmental services (Aspergers, ADHD, genetic conditions), child mental health clinics and a Paediatric Neuropsychological Rehabilitation Service.

Helen Santilly

Education Consultant

Following a successful career as a primary school teacher and special needs co-ordinator, Helen Santilly moved into the role of Primary Strategy Consultant for Cambridgeshire. In this capacity she made a significant contribution to National Materials for making the classroom more accessible for children with Special Educational Needs.

Her work includes co-authorship of Learning and Teaching for Dyslexic Children, a publication focussing on whole school approaches which benefit all children including those on the autism spectrum. Helen wrote and delivered original tailored courses for teachers, schools and local authorities as well as delivering national strategy materials. For BeginningwithA, Helen provides specialist education support for families.

Stepping Stones

Within our policy of involving multi-diciplinary teams in the ASD diagnostic process, BeginningwithA works closely with Stepping Stones Behavioural Consultants. Stepping Stones consultants have experience working with children, adolescents and young adults at early and advanced stages of their development, offering assessments by psychologists, ABA Case Managers and Speech and Language Therapists.
